Abstract

A new non-striate, bisaccate pollen genus- Protoeusaccites gen. nov., is described from the Middle Member of the Pali Formation, South Rewa Gondwana Basin, Madhya Pradesh, India. The grains are diploxylonoid with a prominent central body having a monoletoid mark or a thin area. The sacci with partial cavity in their chamber show a unique transitionary character-state, between the “Protosaccate” and “Eusaccate” in their structure.
