Abstract

Leaf-impressions collected from the Tura Formation (Upper Palaeocene) of Nangwalbibra. Garo Hills. Meghalaya belong to Grewia of Tiliaceae. Atalantia of Rutaceae, Schleichera of Sapindaceae, Mangifera of Anacardiaceae, Terminatia as well as Calycopteris of Combretaceae, Syzygium of Myrtaceae and Chrysophyllum of Sapotaceae. In addition, a few palm leaves of uncertain affinities are also described. The modern comparable forms of the fossils indicate a tropical warm and humid climate in the area during the deposition of the beds.
