Abstract

Palynofloral investigation of the Palaeocene sediments exposed near the Village Thanjinath, Meghalaya reveals that pteridophytic spores are dominant in the lower seam while angiospermous pollen increases gradually towards the upper seam. No cenozone has been recognised in the assemblage as the change of palynofloral constituents in different seams are gradual. The quantitative and qualitative analyses of the assemblage, depositional environment and regional correlation on the basis of palynofossils have also been discussed.
