Abstract

The present paper deals with a petrified pseudostem of Musaceae discovered from the Deccan Intertrappean beds of Mohgaon Kalan (22°1'N; 79°11'E) in district Chhindwara, M.P., India. It is the first fossil record of a pseudostem from India or elsewhere. It has been referred to Musaceae. But it could not be identified with certainty with any living genus.
