A fossils wood of Bauhinia, Bauhinium palaeomalabaricum sp. nov., is being described from the Lower Siwalik beds of Kalagarh in Pauri Garhwal District. It resembles the modern taxon, Bauhinia malabarica Roxb. which is widely distributed in the deciduous forests of almost all the states of India and Burma. It also grows in the forests of the Siwalik Range.
