Abstract

Various traverses have been taken along the different Nala and stream courses to study the Lower Gondwana sediments in the Hutar Coalfield. Details of the lithology of the individual bed are presented. A generalized succession of the beds in Talchir, Karharbari and Barakar formations, present in the coalfield, has been worked out and lithological description of various members and formations is given. Besides, a general idea of the structure of the area is given. The Karharbari Formation has also been demarcated in this coalfield for the first time.
