Nineteen species of the genus Glossopteris are described from the Barakar Formation of Churulia Area, Raniganj Coalfield, India. Epidermal features of sixteen species have been investigated. In the rest, the carbonified crust is not preserved. Nine species, viz., Glossopteris asansolensis, G. bunburyana, G. danae, G. manjuiae, G. schopfii, G. schimperi, G. ednae, G. kusumiae and G. roylei are new.
