Abstract

The presence of triprojectate pollen in the Upper Cretaceous of the Cauvery Basin is confirmed. The pollen belongs to the species Aquilapollenites bengalensis Baksi & Deb. From comparative palynology, it is deduced that Aquilapollenites yielding bed in Baksi's Bengal Palynological Zone I, i.e. Biswas’ Chara- Ostracod Facies Zone, could not be older than Maestrichtian in age.
