Abstract

In the present paper the authors describe in detail a palm petiole, Palmocaulon monodii sp. nov., from the Eocene of Senegal. Attempt has been made to identify the petiole with the modern genera of palms but due to lack of detailed studies on the anatomy of palm petioles, it has not been possible to do so.
