Abstract

The megafossil and miospore assemblages in the different countries of the Lower Gondwana are strikingly similar to each other. Yet all the Gondwana countries, so far palynologically known, have few endemic miospore genera. Some of these genera reported from Australia, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Uruguay, and Zaire have been described. Most of these genera belong to cryptogams and several to gymnosperms. The reason for the endemic nature of these genera has also been discussed.
